Privacy Policy Statement

The School is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APP) contained in the Privacy Act and, as such, the Brisbane Girls Grammar School Privacy Policy outlines how the School uses and manages personal information provided to or collected by the School.

 

Collection of personal information

In relation to personal information of job applicants, the School’s primary purpose of collection is to assess and (if successful) employ the applicant.

The purposes for which the School uses personal information of job applicants and staff members include:

  1. to administer the individual’s employment or contract, as the case may be
  2. for insurance purposes
  3. to satisfy the School's legal requirements and statutory reporting.

 

How your information will be collected

The School will generally collect information about an individual by ways of forms filled out in person or online via email or the website, interviews and telephone calls. In some circumstances, the School may be provided with personal information about an individual from a third party, for example, an employment referee.

Only personal information that is necessary for a lawful function or activity of the School is collected.

 

Security and access to personal information

Personal information in the possession or under the control of the School will be held securely. It will be protected from unauthorised access, use, modification and disclosure by such security mechanism as are appropriate in the circumstances.

Access to personal information is restricted to those persons who have a legitimate need to know the information.

The School is unable to delete or edit candidate profiles. Should candidates wish to have their profile deleted, please send a request via HR@bggs.qld.edu.au. The request will be submitted to authorised parties for action

Disclosure of personal information

The disclosure of your information is to process your application for employment and/or identify other employment opportunities for you.

The School may disclose personal information, possibly including sensitive information, held about an individual to:

  1. anyone to whom you authorised the School to disclose information
  2. employment referees
  3. other relevant organisations that perform services on our behalf during the recruitment process.


Updating personal information

Personal information the School collects must be accurate, complete and up to date. Should you wish to change any of your details, this must be done online through your candidate profile.

Privacy complaints

If an individual believes their privacy has been breached, a complaint may be made in writing to the School in the following ways:
